Adopted!

Gina (Adopted)

Species: Winter white dwarf

Estimated Age: 3 months

Gender: Female

Likes: Free roaming

Dislikes: Being woken up

Gina is an active young girl. Her activeness means she would need an enclosure with many enrichments for her to explore and run around. She loves to make burrows and often sleeps in the tunnels during the day time. It is highly recommended to provide her with at least 6 inches of bedding so that she can dig til her hearts content. Spot cleaning is a must as she has a habit of peeing in her tunnels.

Although she is okay with little pets on the head while she is eating, Gina is still timid and shy and will zoom away as soon as you try to catch her. However with positive reinforcements and enough bribery with her favourite foods, she will become more tolerable with handling.

Gina also enjoys running on her wheel. She’ll often spend most of the night running on her wheel so it will be good to invest in a good quality and silent one.

Are you the one to provide young Gina a forever home?

Chicken in the Woods (Adopted)

Species: Hybrid Dwarf

Estimated age: 6-8 months

Gender: Male

Likes: Mealworms, nuts, forage, burrowing, running on wheel, smooshed in tight spaces while watching you

Dislikes: Being picked up, little children

Fosterer’s Instagram account/ highlight of the foster: IG @inamilkcarton. Feel free to DM if you have questions!

Chicken in the Woods—or simply—Chicken, is a timid hamster who was rescued with a bunch of other hamsters housed together (no colonies, people!), with many of them sustaining serious injuries. Chicken came to his fosterer relatively injury-free; we wonder if it had anything to do with his skills in hide-and-seek.

With his fosterers’ daily taming attempts, he has slowly progressed to being willing to accept mealworms directly from hand. If he’s feeling brave, he may sometimes even climb onto the palm of your hand after giving your hand a little whiff. He will, however, freeze and struggle to get off the moment you try to remove him from his cage. He will also refuse even his favourite treats when he realises that he’s been taken away from his home. He will need an owner who can be patient with him so he learns to trust human beings.

He can usually be seen out and about at night, mainly on his running wheel. Do be careful though, because the moment you turn on the lights, you’ll see him dashing to safety (in the Woods). As such, he’s going to need an owner who can accommodate his lifestyle.

Requirements

Cage: Unbarred cage meeting HSS’s minimum

Wheel: 21cm or bigger wheel. If you get one with adjustable height, you can spot him making a comfy little hideout underneath for him to store his post-workout treats.

Bedding: Any type of bedding suitable for burrowing with minimum 18cm height in at least one area of the cage

Food: Anything classified as ‘excellent’ in this app https://www.thehamingway.com/foodmix-app. Those readily available in Singapore include:

  • Rodipet Organic Dwarf Hamster Food

  • Bunny Nature Dwarf Hamster Dream Expert (not the basic one!)

  • FP Originals’ Standard Hamster Seed Mix / Truffle Mix

Sand: Preferably a larger sand pit area (You can get the IKEA 365+ glass serving dish that’s a good sand pit size: https://www.ikea.com/sg/en/p/mixtur-oven-serving-dish-clear-glass-40133989/)

Enrichment: Tunnel starters (toilet rolls or purchasable tunnel starters) and multiple hideouts (min. 3). Chicken uses a water dish with the fosterer, but you can also try a water bottle to see if he takes to it.

Bong (Adopted)

Species: Dwarf

Estimated age: 1 year old

Gender: Male

Likes: Superworms, fatpouches treats, sleeping outside

Dislikes: Being touched suddenly (he will scream)

Fosteror’s Instagram account: @justmochiing

Bong was found abandoned on the roadside. Despite his unfortunate situation, he is a sweet and gentle boy who appreciates the small things in life.

One thing you will love about him is that he is 100% comfortable with eating on his back on your palm! This is a great chance to interact and watch him nom away on his treat. However, give treats in moderation even though it is hard to resist since he looks so cute eating.

He is not shy to approach your hand but he might give you a chomp thinking you’re food. If this happens, giving him a treat at this point will help to ease him into being carried out. Do not poke/touch him when he is sleeping as it might give him a scare, he will scream!

Bong loves to sleep in the open so you might spot him sleeping in weird positions around the cage. Due to his age, his fosterer recommends that his set up does not have high platforms where he can fall from, as he is quite a clumsy boy.

If you are looking for a hamster that is easily satisfied with doing his own thing and doesn’t mind hand interaction, Bong is the one for you!

(Requirements)

Food: Fatpouches standard mix
Enrichment: Sprays

Freya (Adopted)

Species: Normal winter white dwarf
Estimated Age: 1 year +
Gender: Female
Rescue date: Feb 2022
Likes: forage, sprays, food, seeds
Dislikes: loud noises, prolonged handling
Fosterer’s Instagram account: @kaizer_hampire

Freya was found abandoned under a block in a filthy small cage filled with insects, horrible food and smelly wet bedding. Despite these terrible conditions, Freya displayed nothing but joy and sweetness.

Freya is a very gentle and pretty lady, full of energy and life. She enjoys sleeping in the open and running on her wheel at night. She’s okay to be carried and held. Due to her age, she will need a mix of soft food like porridge or mash once in a while. She also requires enrichment like sprays and forage as she is an active and curious girl.

Are you the one for this winter warrior lady?

Fa's Babies (Adopted)

*Note: Fa’s Babies can only go to their furever homes after 21 Mar 2022, when they turn 5 weeks old.

Taz (Adopted)

Species: Dwarf

Estimated age: 4 weeks

Gender: Male

Likes: Running on his wheel, mealworms

Dislikes: Sudden movements or sounds

Fosteror’s Instagram account/ highlight of the foster: @justmochiing

Similar to the origins of his name, Taz is a fast boy. He isn’t too used to being handled and will sometimes dart out of your hands if startled. Adopters should handle him with caution, especially since he is still young and small in size. If you love to see your hamster zooming around the cage and running marathons on the wheel, Taz is definitely the one for you.

He will require an adopter who has the patience to interact with him frequently so that he can get used to being held.

Beep (Adopted) and Boop (Adopted)

Species: Dwarf

Estimated age: 4 weeks

Gender: Female

Likes: Fatpouches standard mix

Dislikes: Being held for too long

Fosteror’s Instagram account/ highlight of the foster: @justmochiing

Beep and Boop are the only girls in Fa’s litter. They are usually found in deep sleep and will need some effort to be woken up. These sisters are very chill and love to do things at their own pace. They are okay with being handled but will need some time to warm up to you.

Beep and Boop are for separate adoption only. As they look exactly the same, their fosterer prefers that adopters come to interact to decide who to adopt.
