Tips for finding good Vets for your hamster

  • Check with your clinic if the vets present have experience with small animals or exotic pets.

  • Do some research or call the clinic prior to your visit - ask as many questions as you need to feel assured of your hamster’s health and safety.

  • Don’t be afraid to seek a second opinion: In certain cases, it may be better to seek the opinion of more than one vet before coming to a decision regarding your hamster’s treatment.

  • Just because one of the vets at a clinic is experienced in treating hamsters, does not mean that all of the others are equally qualified. If you call for an appointment and are offered an appointment with a vet you do not know, insist on seeing the vet you asked for.

Reasons why a vet is not listed, or has been removed from the list:

  1. Insufficient information about the vet/clinic;

  2. New clients are currently not being accepted by the vet/clinic

This list is by no means exhaustive. If you know of a hamster-savvy vet in a clinic which is not listed here, please let us know by sending us an e-mail (hamstersocietyhelp@gmail.com).
