Claire is a retired mother who is young at heart. She is suspected to have gone through multiple traumatic pregnancies prior to her abandonment, so she likes to spend time resting and going about her day in the cage on her own.

While she is an independent soul, she is still very much food motivated. Present her with some pine nuts and she will gladly climb out and grace you with her presence. She really loves her food! If you stay up late enough, you will see her having the time of her life running on her wheel!

She does not like to be handled and will get angry sometimes when she is held. Claire is best for families and individuals who are content with observing and having minimal interactions with her, and most importantly, committed to giving her a good retirement home.

Nyssa is the perfect little hammo! Despite the rough circumstances she came from, she has the most gentle soul. Even though she loves her food, she takes it from her fosterer's hands ever so gently. Nyssa is the sweetest girl.

Just like any teenage Syrian, she is extremely active! She loves to run on her wheel for hours and hours. After waking up at around 7pm every evening, she will spend half an hour trying to wake up and groom herself before hopping on her wheel to start her daily run.

She definitely thrives with a nightly free roam around a big space, preferably a room. She climbs and sniffs every surface gently but with much curiosity. She will try her luck and climb on grills, but with a hamster-proof room, she can free-roam about fairly unsupervised! When she needs a break, she will hide in her favourite corner to nibble on food in her pouch!

She is okay with being handled and it is fairly easy to handle her despite her being fairly big (normal for female Syrians). She is at a healthy weight of approximately 135g.

Fa was found running around a dustbin before being rescued. She came under her fosterer’s care as a small-sized girl weighing only 29g, however two weeks later she surprised her fosterer with 5 babies! Fa’s babies have all been adopted and she has been eating well, now weighing 66g.

Fa is a bright girl and loves running to the door when her fosterer approaches. She is okay with being handled but not for too long. She loves building nests, probably due to the fact that she was pregnant before. On that note, she hates having them destroyed and removed, this makes her very stressed. So do it with caution and only when necessary!

Fa is not very food-motivated. But the one treat she absolutely cannot refuse and will 100% take from you is worms, either mealworm or superworm. She can be picky and her fosterer has found that she isn’t a fan of herbs and flowers in her seed mix, thus the Fatpouches dwarf mix seems to be her fav. She loves dried vegetables and can clear her entire bowl in a day, be sure to not give in to her and accidentally overfeed her!

With a shake of the food container, Fa usually makes her way to the cage door and will greet you with a very sweet face. This makes it extremely easy to interact with her and although she doesn’t climb onto hands, she is very willing to let you pick her up to check on her. Furthermore, Fa is potty-trained so spot cleaning is a breeze.

Medical: Despite her size and very active nature, Fa has two medical issues that will need to be monitored daily. Firstly, she has a cataract in her right eye, probably due to a trauma in the past. It hasn’t grown in size and doesn’t bother her. But it will be good for the adopter to make sure there is no discharge or that the size of the cataract increases.

Secondly, she has a 1cm bald spot on her left hind leg. This bald spot has been very persistent and despite going through treatment for the past few months, fur hasn’t really grown back at all. Her condition has been deemed stable but will just require frequent vet visits should the bald spot get irritated in future. Her fosterer is currently trying to transition her to sand, so the adopter should still have some on standby in case Fa is able to adapt to it. Due to her persistent skin issue and her cataract, Fa requires a medical set up. She can only use Fatpouches tea bag bedding and it needs to be deep cleaned weekly. Daily spot cleaning should be done to prevent her from lying in her pee too often. She also needs to be cleaned with saline once-twice a day.

-        To avoid further injury to her eye due to bar climbing, Fa’s home should be a barless cage. As she is slightly chonky, a bigger cage will accommodate bigger accessories for her as she is currently using Syrian sized hideouts and wheels and prefers them over smaller ones.

Chandler (Adopted)

Species: Syrian  

Gender: Male

DOB: 4 February 2021

Likes: Tofu, worms, Fatpouches biscuits, fresh veggies, burrowing, dark areas

Dislikes: Being disturbed during the day, sudden movements or sounds

Chandler is a shy and gentle boy. However, he will not hesitate to let you know when he does not want to be disturbed as he is quite a vocal hamster! If you catch him at the wrong time of the day, don’t be surprised to find him complaining with soft squeaks. He prefers to be left alone in his burrow during the day and will prefer to be held at night or in the morning when he is more awake. Always let him smell or hear your presence before touching or holding him as he is easily spooked.

Chandler digs deep burrows to eat and sleep, so provide him with plenty of bedding and covered, dark hideouts. Currently, he loves his multi-chamber hideout as it helps him hold his burrows well. While you won’t get to see him for most of the day, this food-motivated boy will quickly come out of hiding when he smells food. Sometimes, he will even come out of hiding with just the sound of his fosterer’s voice to check if there is food being offered. 

Chandler eats Bunny Nature, Mazuri, and Fatpouches with no problem and will usually finish most of it. He is a curious, clumsy, and easily spooked boy that will enjoy a cage with loads of hideouts and the ability to burrow. Chandler will thrive well with an owner that can respect his space, and appreciate his cute pink nose!
