Named after the Spanish word for egg, Huevo (weh-vo) is the fluffiest egg you’ve ever seen! Huevito is a relatively skittish creature, preferring to spend most of her day snoozing in her various hideouts. However her absolute favourite thing to do is dig. She digs tunnels, she digs pathways, she digs to cover things up, to cover herself up in hideouts - she’s simply obsessed.
Not one to hoard, she adopts the grazing diet - small portions throughout the day - so she will be a perfect ham for anyone with WFH/flexible work arrangements. You’ll quickly grow to love checking in on her during the day waiting to see when she has her important meetings with her food bowl and sand baths.
Even though she’s wary of big hands and will use her little busy paws to grab and nibble fingers, she never bites that hard, she’s just nervous! Her foster believes that with enough time, gentle coaxing and love that she could become a hand friendly eggo. But despite being wary of hands, she will happily grab treats from your fingers and let you stroke her soft fuzzy body - especially when those treats are fresh crunchy veggies, cashews and pine nuts.
Huevo hasn’t had a hard life, but she deserves all the space in the world and as much love and care anyone can give a soft fuzzball who wants nothing more than to be a happy ham.

Currently using the natural brown colour as I have found in the past that the white and coloured varieties are very dusty.
Aspen Shavings to provide structure for tunnelling mixed into the paper bedding.
Currently using Marukan.
Optional: Shredded tissue paper for a pop of colour!
Currently using IKEA brand coloured paper napkins.
Sand: Sanko Bath Sand.
Food:
Currently using Bunny Nature Hamster Dream Expert
Other brands such as Rodipet or Fatpouches are good too!
Enrichment:
At least 3 hideouts
Can be one large nesting area/chamber hideout and 2 smaller ceramic or cardboard hideouts.
Trustie brand from PLC for the smaller ones is a good option.
Please note that once she has chosen which of the hide outs is her nest, she will use it as her toilet and it will need to be cleaned out at least every 3 days.
Bedding that is at least twice her height in at least half the cage.
2 sand baths.
Currently has one small and one medium bath for bathing in as one she uses more for digging!
So ideally one should be deeper and filled more than the other.
OR: one large one (as per HSS guidelines)
