Muffin is one of the few chonky dwarf girls that her fosterer has encountered. While most other female hamsters that come into foster care are slender and small, Muffin is round. Not fat-shaming, just stating facts. She’s food-motivated and eats everything that is given to her, and this will be particularly helpful with her taming process! She’s currently being fed a mix of Fatpouches Premium and Standard seed mixes, and she wipes out her food bowl without leaving anything out. High-protein lab blocks will not need to be given to this girl as she should start watching her weight to prevent any future health problems!
Aside from eating, Muffin loves digging in her sand box. Her fosterer often finds sand being kicked out of the box and sprinkled all over the cage. A large sand box is highly recommended for this sand-lover! Her fosterer thinks that Muffin mainly gets all her energy out by kicking and rolling in the sand as she has not really seen the wheel being used. She is also somewhat potty-trained, she only pees on her wheel and in the sand!
A special quirk of hers is that she loves sleeping in the open, even though she has multiple ceramic hides in her cage. Her favourite spot is smack in the middle of the two mushroom hides in her current foster cage. This trait will definitely put a smile on your face when you look into her cage as her sleeping positions are very amusing. Modesty is kicked out the window when it comes to food and sleep for this girl!
Despite being mostly chill, Muffin does NOT appreciate being rudely woken up from her beauty sleep by getting poked or grabbed. She will scream at you like a brat and will only stop when you take a step back to give her space. It is recommended that you interact with her when she is already up and about by enticing her with a treat (works 100% of the time). This girl will happily eat while resting on your palm and enjoys getting a massage while she’s munching, like a spoilt brat.
