Adopted!

Boutrous (Adopted)

Species: Pearl Dwarf Hybrid

Gender: Male

Age: Estimated 4-6 months

Likes: Chilling in corners, splooting on his wheel when no one is watching

Dislikes: Fast movements

Fosterer IG: @uwufosters

To befriend mister Boutros, you have to master the art of staying very still… He gets spooked by fast movements due to him coming from a severe hoarding case. He will be warming up to you in no time as long as you approach him gently, even staying still in your hand for some hamsome pictures. He might even become a lovely pancake ham one day!

This quirky ham model is open for business! Will you be the one to unlock his fullest potential?

Note: Boutros is toilet trained but he also enjoys having his meals in the sand sometimes so it would be good to clean out the sand with a sieve frequently.

Recommendations

Cage: Minimum 70cm x 40cm

Bedding: Any recommended bedding (currently using Oxbow white and FatPouches Tea Bag bedding)

Wheel: 21cm or bigger (currently using 25cm)

Sand: Any recommended sand (currently using Wittemolen)

Food: FatPouches Premium seed mix

Enrichment: at least 3 hideouts so that he can be comfortable in cosy spots

7 Dwarves (Adopted)

Species: Dwarf Hybrid
DOB: 13 Dec 2020

The Seven Dwarfs are children of Snow White. Half of them inherited their mother’s gorgeous beige fur coat while the rest follows their dad’s dark grey. They are generally all particularly good natured like their mum. She has taught them well. They are all non-biters and are happy to be handheld and played with.

Bashful (M) (Adopted)- The boy used to hide from us because he had a pimple like looking bump under his chin. We have taken him to the vet to pop the bubble and it has since healed nicely. Since then he is less bashful and will come out to look for us for treats and playtime.

Doc (F)- Adopted

The leader of the gang. She is fast and has a good head on her shoulders. She cannot be bribed with food. But generally she is matured, good natured and behaves with pride and decorum.

Grumpy (F) (Adopted)- The only ham who would scream at us if we forced them to wake up in mid-day for a house clean. Otherwise Grumpy is exceptionally good natured and likes to stick to our hands than to go back home.

Happy (M) - Adopted - The happy go lucky boy who trust all of us to handle him and gives us cute faces in return for treats.

Sneezy (M) - Adopted - The surprising boy who will run up our hands without any reservation and acts cute to buy him more play time on our hands.

Dopey (M) (Special Care required) - Adopted - The unfortunate blur boy who loves food as much as his mama, took a bite of the poison apple too. Thus he also stargazes on occasions. We have since realized a good wheel is ideal for him to let him exhaust his boundless energy and reduces his stargazing episodes. He is a special needs boy and will need a big wheel, plentiful soft bedding, free of platforms or bars.

Sleepy (F) - Adopted - The only female with dark coat of fur. Her bubbly personality is contagious. She is very pretty.

Willow (Adopted)

Species: Dwarf Hybrid

Age: 4 weeks

Likes: Mealworms, sand, GOOD food, millet sprays, wheel wheel wheel

Before you continue reading the girls’ profile, please check out this video of them moving their ears in sync during their photoshoot: https://www.instagram.com/p/CJYDuFYAyGh/

If the video above is not enough to make you go AWWW, please check out this Instagram highlight compilation of them: https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/17856207011345110/.

The chubbiest one of the lot. Biggest bully who hogged the food bowl and chased her sisters away. Willow is mean towards the other hamsters but is a complete sweetheart with humans. Look at how she pancaked on her fosterer’s hand during her photoshoot, she stayed there for a couple minutes on her own accord :’-) Definitely big manja potential!

Emperor Meatball (Adopted)

Species: Dwarf hamster

Gender: Male

Estimated age: unknown, 4-6 months old as of Dec 2020

Likes: burrowing, mealworms, millet sprays

Dislikes: being disturbed

This beautiful boy is shy but sassy! And is often willing to squabble with you until you give him a snack! He came from an unfortunate hoarding situation along with more than 120 other hamsters and due to his past Hamry tends to be rather vocal about things he dislikes.

He is a little protective of his nest and has a tendency to squeak angrily if you disturb it. He has since calmed down but can be easily placated with a treat (while grumpily squeaking in between munches).

He is fine with being hand-fed and will nose around your palm for snacks to pouch. He may gently nibble your fingers out of curiosity but is not known to bite.

Meatball enjoys burrowing and you can see him sneak through the bedding to find food and climb into his wheel. Or you may see a head poke out through the bedding hoping you will realise it is time to give him treats. Hides like tunnels and peephole boxes will be most appreciated by this boy.

While Meatball is grumpy about being handled, he is easy to pick up and is very docile once you take him out of the cage. He's a bit blur and clueless and would waddle around his free roam area slowly to check everything out. He always carries a bento box with him and once he's settled down he will unpouch his food for a second breakfast. His charm point is once he pancakes on his wheel he will let you pet him.

He's a great hamster for first time owners since he rarely bites and is rather slow moving when you take him out or pick him up. Be mindful of his personal space and take your time getting to understand his body language and you will have yourself a quirky little fella with a soft demeanour!
