As the only long-haired boy in Peaches’ litter of 7, Spook has an adorable white speck on his black/grey coat and can be easily differentiated from his brothers. But that does more harm than good for him because this handsome boy is easily spooked and is afraid of many things. He runs away when you say hello to him, he runs when you offer him treats, and he runs when you open the cage up – basically, he is always running. When he runs, he looks like a feather duster that moves autonomously because of his beautiful long fur.
So far, he seems to take all sorts of food but favours freeze dried tofu, sunflower seeds, peanuts, and pine nuts. He will take food from your fingers if you stay till for long enough but if you move all of a sudden, he will definitely bolt. This furry nugget has a strange habit of hoarding all the seed mix he possibly can and emptying them all in his wheel, then running in it which makes a lot of noise. As chill as he may seem to be, he is an expert escape artist and will benefit from a lidded cage with no grills or bars because he is small enough to fit through most gaps.
Ultimately, Spook will need a patient owner to teach him that humans aren’t all that scary and often come with pets and cuddles. Due to his flighty nature and tendency to leap off surfaces, he is unsuitable for children.
Requirements
Cage: Unbarred, 100x50cm or bigger
Wheel: A lightweight 22- 30cm wheel (he is currently using a 22cm wheel because he’s a tiny guy but this WILL need to be upgraded as he gets bigger so he gets to run with his back straight)
Bedding: As per HSS requirements
Food: Bunny Nature Hamster Dream Expert or Fatpouches, fresh vegetables
Enrichment: Plenty of hideouts, sprays, forage, boredom breakers (e.g. DIY cardboard toys)
