Meatball was abandoned with 7 of her siblings, 4 younger siblings, and her parents :( She was a mere 17.4g and didn’t look more than a month old! Over the past few weeks, she’s been slowly gaining weight and getting bigger and stronger. Although she’s over 25g now, she’s still incredibly tiny and has more growing do! She loves trying new food and will greedily consume almost anything – her seed mix, mazuri lab blocks, various seeds and nuts, and even vegetables.
Meatball is a feisty little girl who enjoys zooming around her cage and on her wheel. She’s a lil ham-thlete (hamster athlete) who runs at super speeds and climbs anything and everything. Due to her speed and small size, she is not recommended for families with young children as she can be difficult to handle. Also, due to Meatball’s tendency to climb, she needs to be kept in an unbarred cage to prevent injury to herself!
Although Meatball may be skittish and shy in the beginning, she is easily bribed and tamed with treats, and will warm up to new people in no time! Currently she is comfortable being handled by her fosterer and will climb onto her fosterer’s hand for treats.
As Meatball is still young and pretty small, it would be good for her adopter to supplement her regular seed mix with mazuri lab blocks and/or hamster porridge to boost her protein intake! Other sources of protein are welcome, although meatball is slightly picky about her protein choices.
Meatball is an inquisitive, active little hammo who will thrive with lots of enrichment and love!
