Jean is a speedy and fast boy! He loves running on his wheel in the wee hours of the night and around his enclosure. He is also a real foodie who loves his seed mix, pine nuts and most of the Fat Pouches treats offered to him. Jean has made a few burrows for himself and can be spotted chilling on his wheel at times.

Jean does not really enjoy being handled and would sprint away but tolerates it if you have to hold him. Jean tends to pee on the wheel hence a non-wooden wheel would be needed. He also pees and sleeps in a particular hideout therefore frequent spot cleaning of it and the wheel would be required. Jean would appreciate a large sand bath area as he likes to roll and spend time in it. He is a big fan of cocopeat as well and sometimes you can see him resting there or digging around.

Medical note: Jean has a wart on his left ear that doesn’t require further action at this point. However in the event that it grows larger, he may need a procedure to remove it.

Requirements:

Cage: Unbarred min 90cm x 50cm x 50cm cage with lid

Wheel: as per HSS requirements min 21cm-25cm wheel

Bedding: any HSS approved bedding, currently on Fat Pouches Paper Nest and Oxbow paper bedding

Sand: any HSS approved sand with a big sand area!

Food: Fat Pouches seed mix

Enrichment: min 3 hideouts, deep bedding, sprays, forage and cocopeat. Hamster-safe chews (eg whimzees, apple sticks)
