Have you ever heard a hamster sing in his sleep? Since Brocco first came, he made chirping noises in his sleep all the time. At first, his fosterer thought he was in pain but she has since learnt that Brocco is just a very expressive hamster.

However, because of the trauma of being neglected in the past, he is still slightly afraid of hands and runs away like a professional sprinter when a hand suddenly goes into his cage. Brocco was extremely shy and skittish when he first went to his fosterer’s house, but he now sleeps in the open and allows people to gently pat him. He is still getting used to being touched so future adopters must be patient with him or risk getting nibbled by him!

He happily comes out of his burrows when he smells new food being put in his dish. HE JUST CANNOT RESIST FOOD. Brocco hates when he’s being grabbed while he’s sleeping but he does not seem to mind it when he’s eating. Once he’s on your hand, massage his back to enjoy his little purrs of contentment, and to see a fat black pancake.

Brocco is not the most manja hamster but he has blossomed a lot under his fosterer’s love since joining our foster programme and we believe that going home to a permanent loving family will help him blossom even more!
