McChicken is among a few hamsters (see if you can spot the siblings) who are all named after Macdonalds food! McChicken is a fan favourite because she is sooo adorable with her eyes being really small and her cheeks kind of perpetually full. She already has a favourite food routine - some seed mix staples, and then some dried flowers. She eats really well, is not picky, and will eat just a bout everything in the seed mix. She vacuums everything into her cheeks, and brings it back to her hideout to chomp on her goodies. It’s quite adorable to see her break bigger pieces of food to eat on the spot or fit into her pouches.
She is getting more and more used to being pet and handled, but if you have food on your hand she will come on to vacuum those delicious seeds and flowers. She gets startled by loud noises, e.g. loud vehicles passing by.
She loves sleeping and chilling in toilet rolls, but will pee in them so they need to be replaced once soiled! She really enjoys digging in sand, so a higher level of sand is recommended to let her dig to her heart’s content. She loves burrowing, so a sufficient level of bedding (aspen, cotton white bedding, other HSS approved beddings) can be used to allow her to hide and feel safe and be a content little baby.
She is quite the pooper while running so you will find quite a lot of POOP next to her wheel because they fly around in the wheel and land safely infront of the wheel. Pretty hilarious when her poop piles were first observed.
