Pomelo was surrendered to us in mid-November 2021. Just like most roborovski hamsters, she was very skittish and would zoom off at the slightest sound or sight of something foreign to her.

Though she is still a little shy, she has definitely opened up a lot and would readily climb onto your palm if you offer it to her now! She may not stay still for long but would be enough for a few pats on her head. If she’s comfortable, she would even pancake onto your palm - until you move.

Her daily activities include zooming on her wheel (I guess to balance out the load of calories she consumes), creating a sandstorm in her sand bath, and scaling the grapevines in her cage… but she’d be in her food bowl 75% of the time. Her favourite sleeping locations are in the sand or in her cupcake hideout, where she’d be upside down and dreaming for more sprays.

Cage: min. 2800cm² base, unbarred. (Tanks are recommended!)
Bedding: Fatpouches Teabag / Oxbow Pure Comfort (sifted) / Fatpouches Birch
Food: Fatpouches Premium/Standard Mix + Mazuri Lab Blocks
Sand: Wittemolen / Versele Laga Chinchilla Sand
Wheel: min. 21cm (Daisy/Niteangel 25cm wheels are a personal recommendation!)
Enrichment: min. 3 hideouts/multichamber/tunnels and spays/herbs for foraging!
