Billy was named after Billy Batson - the foster kid-turned-superhero better known as Shazam of DC Comics! Billy the hamster has braved the odds and continues to fight on for a better life of love and care from forever adoptive pawrents.
Here's Billy's story. He was living in a tiny shared cage with one tiny wheel and a hideout where he had to squeeze with another (also adorable) hamster in. Before taken into foster care, he lived on hard cat litter pellets as bedding. He was also only fed bread and dry food of less-than-ideal nutritional requirements. The night he was taken in and given his own space, he explored and collected his favorite pieces of soft bedding to make his own nest on his new wheel of his own. The first time he was fed his healthy new food mix, he fell asleep in the food bowl (see pic in gallery!). From that day on, he's been making his own nests wherever he likes and still loving mealtime just as much!
Billy will require your special attention daily. He has two existing medical conditions as examined by the vet: Two small, soft lumps on his underside and a condition known as penile prolapse.
Through it all, Billy still remains upbeat and active during daily playtime and bonding! He is also such a hardworker when it comes to choosing bedding pieces good enough for building his nest, it's the most adorable thing to watch!
