Tofu cookie treat (recipe)
This tasty tofu cookie packs a protein punch and is a great supplementary treat for hamsters who need a little extra protein in their diet. Silken tofu is ideal for this recipe due to it’s high water content, which makes it easy to mash. However if it is not available in your area, you can substitute this with firm or pressed tofu with 1-2 tablespoons of water as needed.
This recipe calls for unsalted and sugar-free peanut butter. Commercial peanut butter contains salt, sugar and preservatives, so do remember to check the labels to ensure that the peanut butter you use, is hamster safe.
Other ingredients include wheat germ, which is the embryo of the wheat berry. High in vitamins, minerals, protein and fibre, it is hamster safe and provides a nutritional boost which your hammies will enjoy.
