Turnip was rescued with 20 other hamsters after they were abandoned at a void deck one evening. Initially kept in the same cage as the other 20 hamsters, she now enjoys a cage and wheel all to herself.
Turnip is sweet and gentle but still active and very inquisitive. She enjoys burrowing and foraging for food. As she is scatter-fed, she loves collecting up all her seeds and depositing them in her hides for safe-keeping. Turnip usually sleeps in the day and emerges at night to run on her wheel.
A weird behaviour of Turnip’s is that she will suddenly stop moving and freeze while staring at you. She will stay there for minutes, as if she thinks you can’t see her if she doesn’t move! Her fosterer often catches Turnip staring at her from the shadows, like a very cute and fluffy cctv camera.
Although she doesn’t like being grabbed or picked up, Turnip is comfortable with human hands. She readily takes food from her fosterer, and will sometimes even crawl onto an open palm. She is quite food-motivated so it should be easy for her adopter to gain her trust by bribing her with lots of yummy treats!
Turnip is an adorable floof with a great temperament and will thrive with loads of space, enrichment, attention, and love ;)
