Mushroom (Adopted)
Species: Syrian
Gender: Female
Age/DOB: About 4 months
Likes: Whimzees, dandelion roots, sprays, corn
Dislikes: Sudden movements
Mushroom has a lot going for her - silky soft fur, the most shiny tricolour coat, and large disc-like ears that perk up whenever she hears something of interest. But she may not be the smartest ham on the block.
And that is precisely what makes Mushroom (or Mushy, as her fosterer calls her), an absolute joy to watch. Every night, Mushy can be seen getting up to her antics—whether it’s doing pull ups in an attempt to climb up to her platform (although there’s a bridge right next to it) or trying to fit a dandelion root or corn horizontally through the hole in her hideouts (keyword being trying).
Mushy also has a habit of pouching absolutely everything to bring back to her favourite hides, treating her fosterer daily to the sight of a hamster with fully stuffed cheeks.
Having been abandoned with 20 other syrians, Mushy is understandably a little skittish around sudden movements, but will happily approach hands for her favourite treats. She does occasionally freeze up when unsure of her surroundings or a noise she has heard, but that’s a sight to behold all on its own: a syrian hamster statue.
Mushy keeps to a pretty strict schedule, waking up only after dark and retreating back to her hides by the wee hours of morning, making her the perfect companion for night owls. She doesn’t love being held and cuddled, but accepts pets only slightly reluctantly and is as gentle as can be when being handled. She is, however, quite a wriggly ham and with her silky coat, may be a little hard to hold on to, so do be cautious when handling her.
