Marchioness (aka March) is the sweetest little lady that likes to take life slow. She enjoys running on her wheel at night and snoozing on her side in her sandbox in the day. She doesn't mind being picked up, but prefers to be on the ground rather than in the palm of a hand as she has splayed back legs that make it a little difficult for her to traverse slippery surfaces. Marchioness may be full-grown, but she is still very small, and maintains weight at only around 22g. She is very polite, and won't snatch food away from you. Instead she will lick and eat the food offered, no paws required.

Marchioness loves mealworms, and will always take a mealworm anytime of the day. She also likes millet, and will gradually and thoroughly harvest every grain on her sprays. She loves food, but like a disciplined little lady, will take her time cleaning off her plate.

As she was previously housed with other hamsters, Marchioness sustains injuries that healed as scars, which is why she looks quite a bit different from other hamsters! Most obvious is her left eye, which is smaller than the other. This could be why she is particularly sensitive about being stroked on her snout. Nevertheless, she is perfectly content being stroked elsewhere. Her future hamparents should look out for if her eye swells or bothers her and bring her to the vet in such cases.

If you enjoy chill hams that are comfortable in their own skin, or hams that know how to enjoy life, look no further than Marchioness, who lives everyday blissfully, easily satisfied with good food and good hideouts.

Requirements:

Cage - Marchioness has been housed in an Alaska and an acrylic cage, and does well in both.

Sandbox - Do provide Marchioness with a large sandbox as she loves to sleep on top of sand in the day! Her current sandbox is about the size of an exercise book. Currently using Wittemolen sand.

Food - Marchioness has been fed Rodipet and Bunny Nature without issues. She's not particularly picky, but doesn't like to finish her dried herbs.

Bedding - any approved bedding

Enrichment: at least 3 hideouts (she currently has 6) as she likes to cycle through using all of them. She also likes tubes. Sprays are recommended.
