Choya Umeshu (Adopted)
Species: Dove Banded Syrian
Gender: Female
Birthday: 11 Dec 2021
Likes: Fatpouches Premium/Standard, Pine Nuts, Vegetables, Freeze Dried Tofu.
Dislikes: Being touched suddenly, little bedding (she burrows)
Choya Umeshu is a very independent girl who loves her food, naps, and wheel. She will strut through the entirety of the cage and explore to her heart’s content, and she explores different corners of the cage to find her next burrowing expedition. Choya also loves her food, especially Fatpouches premium and her daily salad greens of Kale, Arugula, and baby corn.
Choya power naps after every run, every meal, every free roam, and when she does sleep, she is a HEAVY SLEEPER. She remains asleep as you massage her, something she does not allow while she is awake. She also loves running on the wheel for long periods of time and when she isn’t running, she climbs around, hence a fully lidded cage is strictly required.
Choya is also a dove-banded Syrian hamster, hence her eyes are red, do note her left eye is of a darker red than the right side.
Requirements:
No-Barred Cage:
Female Syrian hamsters are notorious climbers and will attempt to climb anything. To prevent Choya from falling from heights, her enclosure should be ideally barless. (strictly ACRYLIC/GLASS enclosure)
Fully Covered Enclosure:
Syrian Hamsters are also notorious curious creatures. The enclosure needs to be fully covered with a weighted lid to ensure she does not escape. Do note if it is fully covered, ensure the enclosure is placed in a well-ventilated area or fully shaded. (Ventilation and Heat)
Minimally 90 x 50 cm
Choya is very active at night and requires a large space to explore, if the space is insufficient, she might start destroying the cage in rebellion (true experience).
Enrichment (5-7 items minimally)
Choya is a young female Syrian, however as she matures, she will be quite inquisitive. Adopters need to ensure her enclosure has sufficient enrichment items (Sprays, Forage, Climbing Branches, Scatter Feeds, etc) to ensure she enjoys a variety of activities because if she doesn’t, she destroys the cage.
