Scrat is a round and adorable hamster with big beady eyes. She is very friendly and isn’t scared of finger interaction such as when hand-feeding her a treat, but does not like to be grabbed suddenly. Scrat is a very vocal hamster and tends to scream when spooked or when you are rearranging her hideouts or bedding.
Even though she may be loud and fast, she has never once bitten her fosterer, proving to be a well-tempered and potentially a well-tamed hamster. Scrat prefers hiding in her hideouts during the day, so ceramic and other cooling or enclosed hideouts will be much appreciated. She is most active at night and can be seen running around her cage, foraging for seeds.
One cute trait about Scrat is that she has a habit of unshelling sunflower seeds immediately when given instead of storing it in her pouch, which is not very common in every hamster so it is quite an enjoyable moment to watch her unshell the sunflower seeds. However, do take note that sunflower seeds should not be given in large amounts at once.
Since she is very quick to run off your palm, she is not suitable for adopters with kids. Even though she enjoys her time out of the cage, she does not prefer to be held but rather to explore on her own.
Fun fact: when Scrat first arrived, she was thought to be pregnant from her size but she has lost a few grams from having a healthier and well-balanced diet
